We just had a major snowstorm in the Northeast and across the Mid-West. It was a tough job digging out and getting our cars on the road. How many times do you see piles of snow on top of a car or SUV? There is a NY State Law about cleaning snow and ice off of your car, but people ignore it. Having INTEGRITY is about having regard for others. It’s about doing the right thing! Did you ever have a sheet of ice come flying off the roof of a car and hit you in the windshield? I did, and it’s not cool.
INTEGRITY is about following society’s rules and not endangering the safety of others. I have a client who was in the hospital having 250 tiny pieces of windshield removed from her upper torso because someone refused to clean off their car. It might be funny when someone stops at a light and a pile of snow falls off their roof, sliding down their windshield. When this occurs, the driver gets blinded for a couple of seconds. And in that short period of time, major accidents can occur.
We are responsible for our own actions. It is our choice to do what is a responsible action. We all have freedom of choice. Nobody is telling you what you must do, it’s your conscience that you have to live with.
As Zig Zigler once stated, “The most influential tool we have in our arsenal is your integrity.”
“Doing the right thing When No One’s Looking” means one should strive to do things in a more thorough manner. It means more than cleaning snow off your car so you can drive it. It means you don’t just make a clearing to see, but you remove any obstruction for the safety of yourself, your passengers and other drivers. Be safe, be smart and be conscious of the rights of others.
“A man does what he must-in spite of personal consequences, in spite of obstacles and dangers and pressures-and that is the basis of human morality.” – Winston Churchill
Choose wisely to go the extra mile and live with INTEGRITY.
